The Search for a New Head Coach Begins
Arizona State parted ways with coach Herb Sendek on Tuesday and almost immediately the list of potential replacements began to hit the internet.
Perhaps the name that has been heard most frequently is Jeff Capel, assistant coach at Duke University. According to CBSSports.com...the job is "... Capel's, if he wants it."
AZ Central’s own Dan Bickley has suggested we grab someone who may be familiar to AZ...former Lute Olsen desciple Josh Pastner.
Arizona State isn’t just looking for a new Head Coach, Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson said; "Very frankly, I'm looking for someone who is going to come in here and provide electricity and fire and spark and really ignite the thought that Arizona State University men's basketball can be really dynamic".
AZ Central put together a list of the Top 10 Candidates:
- Tommy Amakar, Havard
- Jeff Capel, Duke Assistant
- Bobby Hurley, Buffalo
- Steve Lavin, St. Johns
- Archie Miller, Dayton
- Chris Mack, Xavier
- Joe Pasternack, Arizona Assistant
- Josh Pastner, Memphis
- Russell Turner, UC Irnive
- Michael White, Louisiana Tech
One things for sure, the next head coach will need to bring a new level of excitement to ASU Men’s Basketball...not unlike Todd Graham has done for the football program.
Who do YOU think it should be?
